General Overview
While the 2 previous installments in Pragmatic Play’s PowerNudge range came with refreshingly original and well-made themes, the productive developer is back in familiar territory with Sweet PowerNudge. Not the most imaginary title either, and clearly a tip of the hat to their smash hit, Sweet Bonanza. The candyland theme is very similar, and this seems like a “Hail Mary” attempt at breaking the mechanic into the mainstream.
It’s not a bad attempt either, just to be clear, and you get plenty of PowerNudge action in all stages of the game. The feature seems to trigger more frequently, and last longer, in the bonus round though, with the added benefit of an always active multiplier reel. It can build up impressive nudging win multipliers if you’re lucky, for payouts up to 5,000x your stake.
Bettings & Winnings
The Ante Bet costs 25 % more per spin, and it doubles your bonus round chances. You win by landing between 5 and 15+ matching symbols in a cluster, and the top-tier cluster payouts are worth 10 to 100 x your stake. There are no wild symbols in this game, but hang on, as there are plenty of other features to cover.
The PowerNudge feature takes center stage in all stages of the game, and it triggers each time you land a cluster win. The involved reels will then nudge down one position, and the nudging goes on as long as you keep winning. If new reels get involved in a win, they start nudging as well, and repeat wins count as a new win.
The rightmost reel is a Multiplier Reel that comes with multiplier values of x1, x2, x3, x4, x5, and x10. It’s not usually active in the base game, but it can be activated at random times. It nudges together with winning reels when active, and the multiplier value in the middle position gets added to the total win multiplier above the reel. The total win multiplier is applied to every win per nudge, and everything resets on the next spin.
You need to collect at least 4 scatters within the same spin sequence to trigger the Bonus Round, and additional scatters above the minimum of 4 are carried over into the feature. This may help trigger extra spins. You start with 7 free spins, and collecting 4 scatters awards +3 extra spins (the collection meter doesn’t reset between free spins).
The Multiplier Reel is always active throughout the whole bonus round, but the total win multiplier still resets to x1 between free spins. On a final note, we should mention that non-UK players can purchase the feature for 100x the stake, but the bonus buy option does not affect the RTP in any way (the same goes for the ante bet, by the way).
